WordPress Featured Image – Custom Size

In this lesson we learn how to register new “image sizes” which specify the size and aspect ratio of the image that WordPress should automatically generate. We then learn how to output these different sizes of the image in different places in our theme files.

  1. Thank you Very much
This is the Greatest WordPress themes Tutorial I ever watched
Can you please tell me how to add four column layout
which I can post different categories.
    any idea.

    1. Hi Valerie! In this video I was using the text editor named “TextMate” but recently I use “Sublime Text” and recommend it to everyone 🙂

  2. Brad, this is absolutely wonderful. You are an absolute natural at instructing. I searched far and wide for a good material on building a wordpress site from scratch. I and am so grateful to you for creating this amazing course – it’s been a life changer for me. You should place this on Udemy 🙂

  3. This is a fabulous tutorial but my theme doesn’t have an index.php or single.php. It has the featured image already setup but I’d like to have my image automatically inserted at the top of my post rather than having to insert it manually. Is there another way to do this? When I manually do it then I end up with two images on my main page.

    1. Hi Tricia, sorry for the delayed response. You mentioned your theme doesn’t have “index.php” or “single.php” – that’s interesting. Does it have “single-post.php” or “home.php”? You might have good luck asking this same question on the official WordPress dot org support forums as lots of people are on those everyday.
